Stats Question? - reading instrument company molds
ACME Scientific Instrument Company manufactures thermometers, which allegedly give readings from 0 degrees to the freezing point of water. Tests on a large sample of these thermometers show that the freezing point of water, some give readings below 0 degrees (indicated by negative numbers) and some give readings above 0 degrees (indicated by positive numbers). Let us assume that the average reading of 0 degrees and the standard deviation of 1.00 degree readings. We also assume that the frequency distribution of errors is similar to the normal distribution. If 7% of the thermometers are rejected because they readings that are too high, but all other thermometers are acceptable to find the temperature refused to separate thermometer for the others.
